Frank Martin Mass for Double Choir-NW Chamber Chorus & Concord Chamber Choir
Early in his career, Swiss composer Frank Martin penned what would become his best known piece, and a towering achievement in the choral world, his Mass for Double Choir. Then the work sat in his desk drawer for forty years, finally emerging for its premiere in 1963. The Northwest Chamber Chorus is pleased to mark our return to Plymouth Church by joining forces with the Eastside-based Concord Chamber Choir for this exciting concert. In addition, NWCC will reprise our 40th anniversary commission, Carpe Diem by Portland composer Joan Szymko, as well as Henryk Górecki's expansive and powerful Amen. Concord Chamber Choir will also perform pieces with their founding conductor, Steve Stevens.
