Jeff Massanari and Groovework - Sizzling Jazz/Funk Guitar!

Jeff Massanari is one of the most fascinating guitarists in the Bay Area. Massanari's latest CD, Groovework, proves the point, with an inspired sojourn to the intersection of high-energy jazz and greasy funk.

Massanari's last visit to Pearl's filled the house to bursting with electifying music and riveted fans. Now he's back with his crackling ensemble Groovework, featuring fiery organist Wil Blades, bassist Jason Muscat and drummer Wally Schnalle.

One of the most versatile and exciting jazz guitarists in the Bay Area, Massanari's wide following attests to the spirit, skill and originality of his performances. He's a writer of intense, powerful compositions, as well. Massanari has performed with the Bay Area's premier talents, including vocalists like Paula West, Brenda Boykin and Denise Perrier, and instrumentalists like Charles McNeil, Vince Lateano and Jeff Chambers.

In addition to performing with his own groups, Jeff regularly plays with The Johnny Nocturne Band, The Murasaki Ensemble and Swing Fever. He's in wide demand as a sideman, too, adeptly performing the spectrum of jazz, funk, blues, and World music.
