Dawes, The Vantage
Dawes, The Vantage Wild Buffalo House of Music 208 W. Holly St. Bellingham, WA 98225 9pm, $6
In Bellingham, Dawes is best known for stealing the show when they opened up for Deer Tick at the Wild Buffalo back in June. They are a four piece Americana/Soul band that has created a buzz wherever they have played. The quartet has opened up for the likes of Maroon 5, Deer Tick, Langhorne Slim, among many others.
Here's what the "Best of What's Next" had to say:
A few years ago, Wylie Gelber and Taylor GOldsmith were playing together in a moderately buzzy rock band called Simon Dawes when they found themselves itching for a different sort of musical outlet. Just eight months later, with Goldsmith's younger brother and a few new friends in tow (and with its earlier praenomen dropped), the band had swapped their indie-pop trappings for the stripped down, dusty-hands country sound that fills Dawes' stellar debut. We think it was a great move. Jenny Lewis, Deer Tick, and fellow Best of What's Next-ers Delta Spirit-who've all taken Dawes on tour-seem to agree.
