Oyster Club Event #2: Party at The Plant
Event details and directions to The Plant are also posted at www.theoysterclub.com. Email oysterclub@rudemechs.com with any questions.
Marla Camp of Edible Austin Magazine has assembled an outstanding Texas local, gulf seafood feast that you won't want to miss at The Plant, an AIA award-winning architectural landmark incorporating parts of the former Alamo Cement Plant. Designed by Lake|Flato , this unique structure is nestled in a hill-country setting ~40 minutes drive from downtown Austin.
Come and celebrate the vitality of our local food, music, and architecture with other friendly and fun people interested in off-beat culture.
Experience the Southern foodways tradition of an authentic Oyster Roast with oysters in season and fresh from the Gulf waters, a traditional Shrimp Boil and a Best-of-Catch Mixed Fish Grill. Renowned Chef Todd Duplechan (Trio, Four Seasons) will prepare a market-fresh condiment buffet to accompany his authentic version of Gulf oysters gently roasted over a wood fire, covered with burlap. Assisted by the culinary magic of Chef Rene Ortiz (La Condessa), Todd and his able assistants will prepare this not-to-be-forgotten Feast from the Gulf procured by Roberto San Miguel and underwritten by Edible Austin magazine that will include farmers market-inspired side salads and a delectable seasonal dessert by pastry chef Jessica Maher.
Local spirits will be in abundance as well, featuring Tipsy Texan mixologist David Alan serving up his signature Oyster Club Cocktail and Paula Angerstein mixing Paula's Texas Spirits. Another perfect pairing with the oyster feasting will be selections from Saint Arnold Brewing Company. And Dr. Oolong himself, Jeffrey Lorien of Zhi Tea, will be serving a special blend of iced tea from their fabulous tea bar as well as soon-to-be announced additional beverage guest stars.
Live musical entertainment will be provided by the eclectic and mesmerizing La Strada
