V2A Symposium "Adapting to Low-Impact Development"
The V2A Series presents another strategic conversation on the built environment, this time with developers, landscapers, water quality advocates and stormwater regulators to explore the new world of stormwater management as it unfolds
In the rainy Northwest, stormwater management regulations inextricably tie the health of our economy to the ecological health of streams, lakes and Puget Sound. In 2015-16, new Dept. of Ecology rules will be adopted by local jurisdictions, directing developers, builders and public works engineers to use low-impact development (LID) practices on most projects to treat and control stormwater runoff on-site. What will be the cost and effectiveness of rain gardens, bioswales, pourous pavement and green roofs? Will LID designs replace traditional stormwater detention requirements? Come join the conversation as we explore the challenges and business opportunities presented by the evolution of development standards toward sustainability.
