A Moveable Feast
On October 23, 2014, Volcano Theatre spearheads A Moveable Feast - an evening to support the spring 2015 world premiere of Century Song, a new opera piece featuring the luminous Canadian soprano Neema Bickersteth. A Moveable Feast will be an unforgettable, on-your-feet, intimate encounter with live performances by some of Toronto most acclaimed contemporary artists, emceed by award-winning actor and director, Ross Manson.
A Moveable Feast takes place at the phenomenal new home for SKETCH at Artscape Youngplace on Shaw Street. Beverages from Mike Weir Wines and Mill Street Brewery will be served along with passed hors d'oeuvres from Beretta Gourmet Catering, while guests are invited to mingle, move and be moved throughout the art-filled environment. For the more adventurous, there will be the opportunity to participate in a short performance created on the night with Century Song's assistant director, Clare Preuss, and performed live at the end of the festivities!
Each room throughout the Sketch's lower level space will see the audience encounter a new performance from artists collaborating on Century Song including: choreographer and dancer Kate Alton; pianist and composer Reza Jacobs; sound and projection installation designer Debashis Sinha; and soprano Neema Bickersteth; and special guest appearances by the cast of Ross Manson and Kate Alton's The Four Horsemen Project. Performances will repeat on a looping cycle for a choose-your-own-adventure-style evening for guests. Century Song's co-music director Debashis Sinha will be spinning tunes throughout the evening to keep everyone sonically satisfied.
