Municipal Waste: Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Municipal Waste are the reigning kings of the New Wave of Crossover. Municipal Waste deliver blazing fast, raw thrash-core in the tradition of DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, "Animosity"-era Corrosion Of Conformity, Nuclear Assault and Attitude Adjustment. All barely in their 20's, the members of Municipal Waste inject youthful energy and humor into a classic genre they were too young to catch the first time around.
With a self-titled EP on Amendment Records, an LP entitled "Waste 'Em All" on Six Weeks Records, and several splits and comps under their belts, Municipal Waste have quickly established themselves as the leaders of a fast-growing scene of bands resurrecting the spirit of the mid-80's Crossover scene.
Fast, furious, and funny, each of Municipal Waste's super-short songs is a memorable anthem to post-apocalyptic mutants, beer, thrash music, or all of the above. The band's dedication is deadly serious yet they are not afraid to bring the fun back into hardcore. Bashing out songs with such titles as "Thrashing's My Business And Business Is Good", "Thrash? Don't Mind If I Do", and "Drunk As Shit", (as well as a split EP whose songs were all based on Kurt Russell films), Muncipal Waste have earned themselves the tag of "party thrash".
The Accused:
In 1981, three bored teenagers from Whidbey Island, Washington: Chewy, Dana & Tom, formed a punk rock band, called 'The Accsed'. The isolated locale was both inspiring and maddening. There's U.S. Navy base on the North end-- llama farmers and well-to-do Summer Home owners to the south. Not exactly a poplulace of folks embracing punk rock or the lifestyle it breeds; They longed for experiencing the punk scene Seattle was offering. In 1982 John Dahlin joined the tio to become Vocalist ; a big turning point for The Accused for suddenly the music they made was getting noticed.
As each member saw their 18th birthday finally arrive, like Alcatrazz-jailbirds, the antsy teens left the island behind and turned their sights on the mainland; In 1983, they entered their first 'real' recording studio to record a split 12" L.P; with Burien, Washington punk icons' REJECTORS.
The ACCUSED have recorded 10 albums ('official' and otherwise); traveling through 49 U.S. States; visiting 20+ countries; being in EVERY major heavy metal/hard rock/punk rock magazine and fanzine that would listen; creating a band mascot 'Martha Splatterhead' who, among other things, made VICE Magazine's 'Top Ten Metal Mascots of All Time'!!; Inspired a 12-band 'Accused Tribute' record (Transparent Records-double-7 inch) AND created their own musical genre: 'Splatter Rock' ! --- a musical mash of bloody, carnage-laden horror, marinated in a broth of metal and hardcore punk, simmering in a stew of un-thinkable brutality and eye-popping gore. Lyrically, they generally fixate on quick and painful revenge served upon those deserving of it and are obsessed with the viceral and varied ways their long-time mascot, Martha Splatterhead, will bring dirtbags to justice for them.
