*When we say "in concert" that means we'll simply tell the story, focusing on this important American musical through all of the spoken dialogue and the songs.

Here it is: the original "Hey-let's-us-kids-put-on-a-show!" musicaland eventually, of course, their show turns out to be a humdinger. Rodgers & Hart wrote this Broadway classic during the Great Depression; the parents are down-and-out vaudevillians, and if money can't be raised in two weeks, the teenagers will be sent to a work farm. The 1937 score features more hits than any other Rodgers & Hart musical: for starters, "Where or When," "The Lady Is a Tramp" and "My Funny Valentine." It's a spirited rompbut even more, these kids are marching their way to adulthood.

Music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart, book by Rodgers & Hart, adapted by John Guare | Directed by Terri Kent | Music direction by Nancy Maier | Featuring members of the Kent State University Musical Theatre Program

Co-produced with Beck Center for the Arts and Kent State University
