Amalia Ortiz, MamaCoatl, & Fuga!
7TH ANNUAL HECHO EN CALIFAS FESTIVAL 2006 presents "Mujeres de la frontera". Music and poetry telling the stories of women along the border.

Amalia Ortiz, San Antonio actor/director/activist/Puro Slam grand slam champion 2000, 2001 and 2002, was named Puro Slam's 1999 MVP "based on skills, execution, winnings, and over all sportsmanship." She founded, co-wrote, directed, and appeared in the 2 hour all female poetry/theatre piece "Women of Ill Repute: Refute!", which raised money for the Rape Crisis Center, and was widely presented.

MamaCoatl BorderCrossingDiosa. From Blues to Son, to Funk to Poetry, MamaCoatl has worked the stage from San Francisco to Cusco, from Performance Art and Installation to Butoh, Ritual and Spoken Song.
