Tongue & Groove Spontaneous Theater
SECRETS: Inspired by true, honest secrets (either your own or someone else's) anonymously provided by the audience,Tongue & Groove creates a montage of one-of-a-kind serio-comic scenes and monologues on the spot! Through this structure, Tongue & Groove forms a 'group mind' between artists and patrons, creating original productions that reflect the particular mood and spirit of each audience. "Part of the fun of the show is receiving such a wide range of secrets to inspire our work," says Artistic Director Bobbi Block, "we've received some memorable ones, including "While making love to my wife, I fantasize about her brother" to "I like my dog more than I like people" to "My husband is Jewish and I secretly had our children baptized." Block directed a production of SECRETS in New Zealand, and taught workshops in Holland and Brazil leading to their own productions of the show; she is excited to remount this Fringe favorite back in Philadelphia.
Tongue & Groove, founded in 2006, is an ensemble of twelve actors and a musician, ranging in age from 24-60; specially trained in the art of unscripted theater in their signature style, 'Actors' Improv' . Performing in the genre of contemporary realism, the skilled ensemble spontaneously enacts a wide range of rich authentic relationships, portraying physically dynamic, emotionally arresting theatre...that happens to be improvised! www.tongue-groove.com
