The Big Gay Musical
Director Casper Andreas, who has won Seattle audiences over with his previous films at the festival (SLUTTY SUMMER, A FOUR LETTER WORD), returns with a queer retelling of the story of creation. Codirected with Fred M. Caruso, THE BIG GAY MUSICAL is a smart and sexy satire that lives up to its title by featuring more eye candy and catchy tunes than a circuit party. The musical at the center of this film is an outrageous production called Adam and Steve: Just the Way God Made Em! Previews are going well for the off-Broadway show, but costars Paul (Adam) and Eddie (Steve) find their lives in disarray. Dissatisfied with dating, Paul decides that he should try to be a slut, just like the tap-dancing, shirtless angels that share his dressing room. But does Manhunt suit a guy whose really yearning for true intimacy? Then there's virginal Eddie, stumbling into the world of casual sex while fretting about the impending visit by his religious parents. Well, the show is centered around a Bible story, he tells them. But he obscures the gay aspect of the musical, not to mention of himself.
Almost everyone in the cast of THE BIG GAY MUSICAL has been in a blockbuster musical (Wicked, Mamma Mia, Sunset Boulevard, Hairspray, you name it). Be sure to watch for cameos by Village Voice columnist Michael Musto and gay adult film star Brent Corriganand no, they are not in the same scene!
Filled with catchy, hilarious, and often touching original songs, including I Wanna Be a Slut, God Loves Gays, and As I Am, THE BIG GAY MUSICAL is likely to end up right alongside the musical classics it joyfully celebrates.
Ticket includes the Centerpiece Gala at Chapel following the film.
