Out of the Blue
Late for a dinner party, Marion (Mireille Perrier), a quiet and conservative drama teacher, stands on the sidewalk struggling with a huge, awkwardly wrapped gift. When her impatient husband Paul makes no move to help as he sits behind the wheel, she simply turns and walks away. This quietly powerful epiphany leads to a family firestorm as she leaves her thoughtless, cheating husband, struggles to stay close with her impetuous teenage daughter, and, to her surprise, finds herself attracted to another woman.
As she explores her newfound independence, Marion meets Claude (Rachida Brakni), a gorgeous, impulsive, and mysterious antiques dealer, and unfamiliar sparks begin to fly. While their bond begins innocently enough, things soon become stormyand sexy. Their complex romance has tremendous dynamism; even Marion and Claude's hesitations are imbued with kinetic tension. The assured direction and strong, realistic performances convey a sense of arriving on the threshold of transformation. Rich, scenic locations and attention to small details lend added charm. OUT OF THE BLUE is a heartfelt and honest film that reveals the complications and joys of finding love in unexpected places.
