Ferron: Girl on a Road
Legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Ferron and her band reunite after a ten-year absence for a three-island, three-concert tour in this documentary filled with powerful music, poetic lyrics, and life experiences. A womens music icon, Ferrons insightful songs about love and personal freedom and her guitar-driven melodies have been compared to those of Cohen, Dylan, and Springsteen, and have provided the soundtrack for an entire generation of lesbians. Ferron ran away from home at age 15 with a shopping bag of clothes (including a waitress uniform), a toothbrush, and an LP of Leonard Cohen. Always a maverick, she began her career never writing down her songs, saying, When I forgot them, I felt they were not important anymore. During the 40 years since then, she made her musical mark, along the way producing on her own record label, featuring an as-yet-unknown Tori Amos, and collaborating with the Indigo Girls, for whom she provided an important influence. With heartfelt music not to be forgotten, FERRON is a walk down a memorable road.
