Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement
Susan Muska and Greta Olafsdottir (THE BRANDON TEENA STORY) work their film magic once again in EDIE & THEA: A VERY LONG ENGAGEMENT, a true love story of two remarkable women whose commitment to each other and creating a life together is an inspiration. Smart and vivacious, Edie Windsor and Thea Spyer built a home together in New York in the 1960s. Engaged for the next 43 years, both to each other and to the community, they were tireless in their involvement in larger social and political struggles. These compassionate and brave women share their journey from the Stonewall riots to todays marriage equality movement. For them, marriage is nothing more than a long-delayed consummation of a bond that the rest of the world has been far too slow to recognize. Even with the challenges of aging and illness, they remain insightful, feisty, and courageous, never losing their humor and remaining loyal dance partners. EDIE & THEA is an intimate story of love, acceptance, and persistence, challenging viewers to likewise raise their voices for equality.
