Ticket includes the Centerpiece Gala at Top Pot Doughnuts following the film.
Both politically incorrect and empowering, transgressive and hilarious (and with a great soundtrack), writer-director Nancy Kissam's amazing debut feature, recognized with a Slamdance screenwriting award, is an exhilarating breath of fresh air.
When Imogene, a beautiful and vibrant cosmetics saleswoman, moves next door to harried mom and abused housewife Anora, they begin a relationship that quickly moves beyond friendship. Yet before they can consummate their newfound love, they are discovered by Anoras husband Cheb, and in the chaos that ensues Anora accidentally kills him as she attempts to escape. With nowhere to run but nothing to lose, Imogene and Anora stuff Chebs corpse in the trunk, pile the kids in the backseat, and leave their small Kansas town on a most unconventional family vacation to put Daddy to rest once and for all.
Starring Laura Harring (MULHOLLAND DRIVE) and Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends), this dark comedy also features an auspicious debut by Ashley Duggan Smith as Tabby, Anoras sardonic and angst-filled teenager, who wryly narrates this tale in both words and pictures. Winner of the Jury Award for Best Fiction Feature at the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, DROOL asks the question: How far are you willing to go to enjoy the love you deserve?
