Partager cet événement :

It's the Hollywood dream: you and five best friends throw in 2k each and make the genius indie film that launches you to greatness. But how do you do it? You'll need actors, sets, and lots of help. But most importantly, you'll need a solid script that takes into consideration location, talent, production value, and time. That's exactly what veteran director/screenwriter Steven Peros ("The Cat's Meow") did in his directorial debut, "Footprints," which was produced on a micro budget and was called "One of the year's 10 Best Films" by the Chairman of the New York Film Critics Circle. It was released in theaters in six cities and is now available on Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, Redbox, and many other streaming and DVD outlets. In this class, Steven will take you from the blank page to cinematic gold in this thrilling one day class. Through intensive brainstorming, a detailed craft talk, and focused in-class writing exercises, Steven will help you avoid the rookie pitfalls, harness your limitations, and craft a roadmap to your killer breakout film. By the end of the class, you'll walk away with a solid plan for your project that will help you follow the Red Carpet Road all the way to Sundance.

About Steve Peros:
After working as a produced writer in Film and Theatre, Steven has recently forayed successfully into Television, selling his original one-hour pilot, DORIAN GRAY, to NBC/Universal and an original two-hour movie to Lifetime, A COUNTRY CHRISTMAS STORY starring Dolly Parton, which broke 2013 holiday ratings records for the network. Steven is currently developing a biopic on screen legend Rita Hayworth to star Eva Longoria, a four-hour sci-fi/fantasy/adventure miniseries with The Wolper Organization, and an original one-hour drama for producer, Andrew Panay, and Relativity TV. Steven's feature directorial debut, FOOTPRINTS, which he also wrote received the praise of such renowned critics as Kevin Thomas, F.X. Feeney, Mick LaSalle, and the Chairman of the New York Films Critics Circle, who hailed it as "One of the Ten Best Films So Far This Year!" An award-winning filmmaker and twice-published Samuel French playwright, with credits in Film, Television, and Theatre, Steven is best known for writing the Lionsgate film, THE CAT'S MEOW, starring Kirsten Dunst, Eddie Izzard, and directed by Peter Bogdanovich, chronicling a murder that was rumored to have taken place on board William Randolph Hearst's yacht in 1924. The film appeared on a dozen year end "Ten Best" lists, including Film Comment and major dailies from coast to coast. Steven's second feature as director, THE UNDYING, a supernatural thriller starring Emmy nominee Robin Weigert (HBO's "Deadwood") and Wes Studi ("Avatar") was released wide on DVD/VOD in December, 2011. In the word of comedy, Steven penned three episodes of AMC's Emmy-award winning comedy series, THE LOT, and was a writer on Disney's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS, starring Jackie Chan, Steve Coogan, and directed by Frank Coraci (director of "The Wedding Singer" and "Zookeeper"). Steven is a graduate of New York University's Film School and a member of the Writers Guild of America.
