An immersion in painting the human face and various ways to paint a portrait. Using a live model and photographs, students learn technical skills to achieve a likeness, using direct and indirect methods of painting. Capturing the portrait will be the main focus, but the class will also investigate painting as interpretation using contemporary and expressive techniques to develop a portrait. Open to oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, and mixed media painters. Students bring their materials; a list will be provided.
