THE LARAMIE PROJECT: TEN YEARS LATER - An Epilogue
written and conceived by the Tectonic Theater Project, Moises Kaufman, Artistic Director
directed by Edward Sobel (dramaturg of the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning "August: Osage County" by Tracy Letts)
The brutal 1998 homophobic slaying of young Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming sent shock waves throughout the community and across the nation, prompting playwright Moises Kaufman and his stalwart Tectonic Theater Project to travel to Laramie and undertake the creation of a now-legendary theatrical journey into the moral, legal, human and spiritual heart of this terrible tragedy.
Ten years later Kaufman and Company return to Laramie and explore the historic aftershocks of Shepards slaying.
Temple has proudly been selected as one of only one hundred theater companies nationwide--AND THE ONLY VENUE IN PHILADELPHIA--to present a staged reading of this theatrical sequel, marking the 10th anniversary of Matthew Shepards death. It is a joint project of Temple Theaters and The Baptist Temple, the newly renovated on-campus performance venue, headed by Executive Director, Charles Bethea.
