Thistle Theatre presents: Momotaro (Peach Boy)
Thistle Theatre presents: Momotaro (Peach Boy)
Momotaro is the most popular children's story told in Japan. An old woman finds a huge peach floating in a river from which Momotaro, a young boy, magically emerges. He grows up to be a warrior and bands together with a dog, a monkey and a pheasant to defeat the Oni (demons) who have been terrorizing his village. Bunraku-style puppets, origami puppets and exciting music combine to create this unforgettable adventure. Puppeteers play multiple roles in the production. Sue Ennis wrote the music and songs and adapted the story with director Jean Enticknap. There are 3 original songs and the traditional Momotaro song. All the Bunruku puppets are made by Brian Kooser and Jean Enticknap and the origami puppets were folded by Kathleen Imanishi and Jean Enticknap.
