Jazz at The Green Room: Gill Aharon & Andrew Stern

We're looking forward to a night of improvisation & musical conversation from pianist Gill Aharon and guitarist Andrew Stern, who have played together for years in the gill aharon trio (gaT) - actually a quartet - for years.

"What do we call this music? Jazz Noir fusion, prog avant jazz, Danny Elfman meets Mahavishnu? I never have a good answer," says Gill. "Cutting the group in half will give us a little alone together time. If solo performance can be the most vulnerable, duo can be the most intimate of musical groupings. This is the first of many planned duo concerts within the gaT family, which include all the members of the group past and present (Randal Wooten and Jef Charland), and some additional duo partners like Nat Mugavero and George Garzone. A duo record will be coming in 2015, exploring both composed duets and free improvised conversations."

In addition to being an inventive pianist and composer, Gill is the impresario of the Inman Square venue lilypad. Listeners may also know Andrew from Telescope, Old Soldiers, Naftule's Dream & a host of other projects.
