'SEATTLE TO FRESNO' - The Best of West Coast Fringe
A brand new Rogue Festival-sponsored event bringing five fun fringe theater shows from across the West Coast to Fresno for one fabulous weekend!
Sept. 4th, 5th & 6th Mia Cuppa Caffe' (620 E Olive Ave) tickets - $10 per show
Five completely different styles by artists ranging from familiar Fresno favorites to fresh new faces.
Check out our amazing lineup; "ACTS OF AFFORDABLE CARE" Dance by Fresno's own Fresno Dance Collective- NOCO -- A movement exploration of our own human capacity & limitation towards caring for ourselves and caring for those around us. Explore & discover what is available/affordable {physically, emotionally} to care for ourselves and the other dancers in the piece. Based on an improvisational score, each performance will be different and reveal the most organic reactions to our acts of affordable care --
"CHRISTOPHER BANGE IN: MORE BANGE FOR YOUR BUCK!!" Fringe Magic by Seattle's The Baggy Pants -- Big attitude. Even bigger magic! In this uncertain economy, prestidigitator Christopher Bange gives you 'More Bange For Your Buck!' Bange will buck up your bottom line! This high-energy show has toured to great audiences & rave reviews all over the world. "Part mime, part comedian and part wizard.. Bange's blend of physical comedy and magic means that even a simple sleight of hand can be hilarious or mystifying." (Winnipeg Sun) --
"PREACHERMAN AT BURNING MAN" Storytelling by the Reverend Nuge of Black Rock City (by way of Detroit) -- Rogue Fest favorite Tommy Nugent brings back his 2010 sold-out hit! The comedic true story of one man's journey - from Pentecostal preacher to atheist street magician - finding 'accidental enlightenment' over two trips to the Burning Man festival. "A magnetic stage presence with a razor-sharp conversational performance style." (Fresno Bee) --
"INNOCENT WHEN YOU DREAM" A theater piece by San Francisco's Zeb L. West -- inside the belly of a whale, a heartbroken & mad castaway, has only two books to read - Don Quixote and Moby Dick. This solo adventure uses physical comedy, puppets & sea shanties to smash two literary epics into an hour of shameless antics! "A strange and disarmingly delightful mashup using puppetry, songs, and some appropriately goofy, often ingenious propsthe play keeps smiles on everyone's faces throughout." (The Visitorium)--
"ALL'S FAIR" Poetry from Fresno artists Michael Dominquez and Taylor Harrison -- It's a battle field and a red, red rose. Blind. Patient. Never failing. It won't admit when it's wrong, and it forgets to put the toilet seat down. Enjoy our show, and give yourself permission to feel as we celebrate the ups and downs of love through music and poetry. This show comes fresh from this year's Rogue Festival, where it debuted to rave reviews. --
'Seattle to Fresno' is curated by former Rogue producer Jayne Day and Grant Evan Knutson of Minion Productions as part of an effort to bring more first-class fringe theater performances to Fresno year-round.
