Island Press: US Rep. Jay Inslee: New Apollo Energy Project
The debut of a new series in collaboration with environmental publishers/advocates Island Press features US Rep. Jay Inslee, a leading advocate for renewable energy who serves on the Energy Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, and the House Committee on Natural Resources. Co-author of Apollo's Fire: Igniting America's Clean Energy Economy, Inslee will discuss the New Apollo Energy Project, which he says could revolutionize the production of energy, combat global warming, help break the country's addiction to oil, and create tens of thousands of jobs. Through the inspiring stories of innovators on the front lines of the energy revolution, Inslee connects the concepts of economic growth and greenhouse-gas reductions with concrete examples, explaining how the new energy economy will grow, the research that is required, and the legislation that must be passed to make the vision a reality. Presented with Island Press through the Town Hall Center for Civic Life, in association with IslandWood and Elliott Bay Book Company.
