Teatr Zar: Wakening the Listening Body with Matej Matejka
-- Monday-Thursday, November 16-19, 10am-2pm --
The old adage "less is more" remains true. Practically the work evolves from the centralizing of energy in the body initiated primarily from the pelvic floor, but also through the basis of isolation techniques. Paying attention to the subtle expression, or inner-articulation, of the body we will focus on wakening the 'center' of the body, while simultaneously grounding the energy of the performer. During the work we may find ourselves touching the following aspects: *Sensitivity in the work with the partner. Exploring different qualities of physical contact. Connection between partners. *Using the stimulus, needs, inner impulses or reflections from our everyday life, as a source for micro-partitures and expression. Essential structures preserved in rhythmical scores. *Searching for forms of physical expression through the nature of one's own personality *Improvisations using intuitive physcial memory as an endless loop of inspiration to encourage and awoken body - "Intuitive body" *Memory recollection as a result of intuitive action. Recreation of Action The creative work and exercises interact between one another. This evokes a specific theatrical language through which we search for simple human meetings. The work session is targeted towards practitioners with an interest and experience in dance and/or theatre. This challenge requires serious focus and precision from all engaged in the work.
