MORE from Carl Struck
On Saturday, September 6th Carl Struck will be back making a second rare appearance playing two sets of his favorite songs with a handful of his musician friends at the Penasco Theatre in Penasco NM. Following last September's well attended "Arc of a Songwriter" show, Carl promised to return with the second half of his "favorite" compositions culled from his three previously released CD's "Nashville Daze", "Mountain Thyme" and "The Trout". Best known for his song "Talk About Love" that was on "The Judd's" last album and earned Struck a Platinum record, he has also penned a number of tunes recorded by other nationally recognized recording artists. Since last year's show Carl won The New Mexico ACLU "Song of the Year" award for his song "An Apology"Joining Carl for this show will be percussionist Phil Scollard from Santa Fe who was in Carl's 1970's band back in Minneapolis and Nick Beeson, a former Bay area jazz bassist and currently the artist/owner of Gaucho Blue Gallery in Penasco, who will be holding down the bottom end. Carl also promises to unleash the deep rich tones of his unusual 8-string baritone guitar for a few songs this time around. This year's show titled "More" will also feature interpretive dance and aerials by Serena Rascon adding another emotive element to a number of Carl's story songs. Serena may be familiar to many of you for her stunning performances with "Wise Fool New Mexico". A portion of the proceeds from tonight's performance will benefit the Penasco Theatre's summer season schedule. The show will start at 7:30 and cost $10.
