Songwriters in the Round

Lisa Redfern brings three talented Maine songwriters to perform in an intimate, unplugged setting in Frontier's theatre for an evening of compelling songs and stories. For this season premiere, Lisa invites Matt Newberg, Amy Kucharik, and Ryan Halliburton to join her.

Lisa Redfern
Lisa is an award-winning singer-songwriter who just released her 10th solo recording (8th CD). This newest, "Once in a While", swings with 12 of Lisa's favorite jazz standards, accompanied by 6 piece jazz band. Lisa blends her roots in all forms of Americana and Roots music to create something unmistakably her own. For over 25 years, Lisa has brought joy and comfort to listeners of all ages. Matt Newberg
Ocean salted rocks, tall fields, old barns and rural roads are the stuff Matt Newberg is born of. With this foundation he has crafted songs for over twenty years. Elements of the earth, life's characters and the human experience find themselves on stage, telling stories of both fact and fiction. Amy Kucharik
Boston singer/songwriter Amy Kucharik applies the sweet, innocent tones of her ukulele to the dark humor of her wit. This "uke noir" gets rendered into a distinct vintage style of old time dixieland blended with bluesy folk. In July she released her debut album "Cunning Folk" containing 10 of her originals arranged for a diversely instrumented band. One reviewer called the songs "clever, fun and intelligent" while another said they "lyrically betray her background as a poet without being snooty about it." Amy plays with words as she does with notes to find the smile amidst tales of love lost and found.

Ryan Halliburton
Ryan Halliburton has been writing, recording and performing since 1996, and has shared stages with Churchill, Glen Philips, The Taylor Hicks Band, Willy Porter, The Brothers Creeggan, Susan Tedeschi, Jeremiah Freed, and Rustic Overtones, among many others. He is currently performing and recording with The Grumps, The Blues Mafia, The Still and Lisa Donnelly.
