Kate MacLeod In Concert
Kate MacLeod's highly acclaimed songs often precede her as other artists sing her songs on stages across the country. Hear this songstress who creates songs that compel music publications such as Sing Out Magazine to claim that Kate MacLeod "channels the spirit of the great Carter Family classics." Twenty-somethings are singing her songs and audiences are beginning to catch on to the versatility of her repertoire. She has opened for artists such as Rosanne Cash, Dan Fogelberg and Greg Brown, but performs winning concerts of her own across the country. Her songwriting style and live performances display an unbreakable link between traditional music and cutting-edge contemporary songwriting. Kate composes music for and about all of us. By request, and as a habit, she has written music based on historic events and personalities, songs based on books and songs commissioned for cultural projects. Whether in a song or on her violin, she captures the essence of our history, our landscapes and our lives in the varied music that she creates. This is no more obvious than in current projects she is developing. Her newest recording project is a collection of songs inspired by books and covers a span of 30 years of songwriting. It was recorded in concert at a bookstore in Salt Lake City. This recording, Kate MacLeod - At Ken Sanders Rare Books, honors both the heart of the community she has lived in for many years and the intermingling of art mediums. For her upcoming recording project, Kate is refining original violin pieces inspired by nature, place and landscape. News of this project will be posted on this website as it develops.
