Fort Myers Derby Girls Present
The Fort Myers Derby Girls will have their final home bout of the season on September 27th at Generations Skating Center against the Bradentucky Bombers. Proceeds from the bout will benefit the Lisabet Anna Buesing Foundation helping young, single mothers with breast cancer. Generations Skating Center is located at 2095 Andrea Lane in Fort Myers. Tailgating with complimentary beer starts at 6pm, the bout starts at 7pm. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door, available at Generations Skating Center or www.fortmyersderbygirls.com. There will be more opportunities to donate to the Lisabet Anna Buesing Foundation at the bout by purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket, bracelet or shirt from the foundation.
Lisabet was diagnosed with stage IIIB breast cancer in 2005 at the age of 23. She was a single mother of a then 3 year old boy. Even though Lisa fought for her life with a double radical mastectomy and three years of battles, Lisa was taken by the cancer when it metastasized into her brain and lungs. Lisa lost her life to cancer on November 1st, 2008. During her life, Lisa became involved in many cancer foundations and was in a national ad for the Sun Program. Because she received so much help through donations, she started a foundation in her own name to show her son the importance of paying it forward to others who need help. Her family and friends are continuing her work with the Lisabet Anna Buesing Foundation to help give other young, single mothers with breast cancer financial aid.
