Broadway Legend THEODORE BIKEL
Opening Night of the 36th annual St. Louis Jewish Book Festival, featuring Theodore Bikel.
Theo Bikel, known to most as Tevye in the Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof, will open the 2014 St. Louis Jewish Book Festival on Sunday, November 2 at 7pm. Bikel will depart from the traditional interview format, opting instead to directly address and perform for the crowd.
"We were thrilled to get him not only is he beloved among our community, but the timing couldn't be more perfect as Fiddler on the Roof celebrates its 50th anniversary this year," said Lynn Wittels, President and CEO of the J.
Bikel's book, Theo: An Autobiography, was released just a few weeks ago. In it, the award-winning performer discusses his many roles on stage and screen, including the original Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and Zoltan Karpathy in My Fair Lady. Theodore Bikel's recently released film is: In the Shoes of Sholom Aleichem.
Scott Berzon, Director of the St. Louis Jewish Book Festival said, "Theo is absolutely the right choice to serve as the Festival's keynote because of his diverse contribution to the arts he is a writer, an actor, and a folk singer and I know he'll be a hit in front of a packed, opening night crowd. I recommend buying tickets early this year!"
Single tickets for the opening Keynote on November 2 are $40; Series tickets (good for all author events from November 2-16) are $75 and Series Plus tickets (good for all author events from September 1, 2014 July 31, 2015) are $95.
Half-price student tickets are available only at the J's Box Office at the Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur with a valid ID.
