Homewood Museum of Johns Hopkins University presents the 14th season of its Baltimore's Great Architecture lecture series, organized as part of AIABaltimore's Baltimore Architecture Month.
Inspired by the current reinvestigation of Homewood's original interior decoration--building on advances in analytical techniques since the house's 1980s restoration--this year's theme explores the latest scholarship concerning how curators, art and architectural historians, conservators, and other design detectives create visions of the past in historic settings
Presentations by paint historian and analyst Matthew Mosca (Oct. 6: "An Examination of Historic Finishes: Recent Discoveries Inside Homewood"), wallpaper historian Steve Larson of Adelphi Paper Hangings (Oct. 20: "Reproducing the Locust Grove Arabesque"), and Thomas A. Reinhart, Deputy Director for Architecture at George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate, Museum & Gardens (Nov. 3: "'We Are Always in the Power of Workmen': The Creation, Preservation and Restoration of George Washington's 'New Room'").
