Masters of Hawaiian Music: George Kahumoku Jr, Ledward Kaapana, "Uncle" Richard Ho'opi'i
We are delighted to announce the return of Hawaiian music to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chatham, NJ. From the renowned "Slack Key Show" on Maui that produced four Grammy Award-winning CDs, three masters share the delightful experience of slack key guitar the distinctly Hawaiian style of open tunings 'ukulele, Hawaiian songs, and a kolohe (rascal) sense of humor.
GEORGE KAHUMOKU JR., four-time Grammy-winner and Slack Key Show producer, is "Hawai'i's Renaissance Man"; his range of talents includes slack key guitar, vocals, storyteller, songwriter, teacher, sculptor, farmer, and chef.
LEDWARD KAAPANA is a musical legend and National Heritage Fellow. His exceptional picking style on slack key guitar and 'ukulele, and his extraordinary baritone to falsetto vocal range have earned him multiple Nā Hōkū Awards.
UNCLE RICHARD HO'OPI'I, also a National Heritage Fellow renowned for 'ukulele and Hawaiian falsetto singing, has a unique yodeling style and delightful stage presence that immediately connects to audiences.
All proceeds will benefit programs and outreach at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
