Metropolitan Ballet Ensemble presents Carnival of the Animals and Special "Carnival" Dance Workshop - a fundraiser for arts outreach
Metropolitan Ballet Ensemble presents Carnival of the Animals at 2:00 pm - in combination with a special dance workshop taught by cast members at 12:00 noon! The dance workshops are targeted to ages 7-10 and 11-14.
Performance: The Carnival of the Animals has been celebrated as the perfect introductory classical piece for young children. During this 30-minute ballet, costumed dancers delight children through movements inspired by the animals they portray. The new interpretation of the classic tells the story of the Elephant who is fawning for peanuts and the Kangaroo who has lost her Joey. The animals include lions, hens and roosters, turtles, a school of fish, a duo of flamingos and more! Come delight in the beloved score of Camille Saint-Saen's Carnival of the Animals with original choreography by Tyrone C. Walker.
Dance Workshop: The workshops at 12:00 noon will begin with a ballet based warm-up and then move into learning repertory from Metropolitan Ballet Theatre's Carnival of the Animals. Dancers will learn an animal variation from the show from one of the ensemble's professional dancers. Dancers will also explore improvisation to the beloved score of Camille Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals.
This wonderful presentation with added dance workshop is a fundraiser for the Ensemble's needs in performing their community outreach mission. Metropolitan Ballet Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts education organization. For more information, please visit www.mbtdance.org or call 301-762-1757.
