On the heels of her 2009 Latin GRAMMY nomination, Peru's most celebrated musical artist adds Chicago to her select city U.S. tour!

EVA AYLLON returns to the U.S. stage to celebrate the release of her anticipated new DVD - a tribute to Peru's quintessential composer, Chabuca Granda. The vocal nuances and powerful metaphors of Chabuca Granda influenced a young Ayllon, transforming her into the powerful singer we enjoy today. With an intimate acoustic setting, Aylln will deliver the best of Chabuca Grandas repertoire in a special evening of homage to a legend.

Ayllon was also recently awarded a 2009 Latin GRAMMY nomination (Best Folk Album) for her first CD release in five years - Kimba Fa. The CD continues to expand Peru's folkloric traditions into new directions, adding Afro-Cuban bat drums, West African djembe, jazz keyboards and salsa-style horn sections. While other Peruvian musicians are criticized when they stray from tradition, Eva Aylln seems untouchable.

Called The Tina Turner of Afro-Peruvian music, energetic and playful, sexy and fully charged (Los Angeles Times), Aylln has garnered 4 platinum records and 10 gold records in her over 30-year career. She also earned Latin GRAMMY nominations for Eva! Leyenda Peruana and "To My Country" - an album she recorded with Los Hijos del Sol and Alex Acua

With millions of fans around the world, she continues an unstoppable U.S. success story. Only last November, Ayllon's sold-out Carnegie Hall performance made her the first Peruvian artist to perform at the prestigious venue since the late Yma Sumac [1922-2008] in the 1950s.

Eva's art is music with a mission. The Washington Post writes, Peruvian singer Eva Ayllon is a diva, but shes also a folkloric artist with a message about race, class and self-esteem. A master of both Musica Criolla (Creole music) and Afro-Peruvian music, Ayllon's repertoire ranges from the romantic Spanish songs known as valses of coastal Peru to distinctive rhythms brought by African slaves such as the sensual lando, the throbbing festejo & the bawdy insouciant alcatraz.

Ayllon's six-member band includes two outstanding young soloists - guitarist Luis Manrique and pianist Moises Lamas  and a powerhouse rhythm section led by the Campos brothers (of Per Negro) who are masters of the authentic Peruvian cajon, a crate-like percussion instrument that is said to have been first played by slaves in Per.
