The Secret Ruths of Island House - Fundraiser Performance
The Secret Ruths of Island House has just returned from its triumphant tour of fringe festivals across the country! Based on real life interviews, this is a play about three women named Ruth who live at the Island House Retirement Home. The actresses use mask, movement and dance to tell the rich stories, both past and present, of these actual women. Having performed to glowing reviews in New York City, winning 'Best New Play' in the San Francisco Fringe Festival, and 'Gold Pick of the Fringe' in Boulder CO, Nebunele Theatre Company decided to perform the show one last time in Seattle for a growing number of people interested in seeing this highly acclaimed piece of theatre. Don't miss its final showing November 15th, 8:00 at The Theatre Off Jackson. There will be a talk back after the show, along with refreshments, and a fundraising art show of masks and paintings available for purchase by the slew of talented artists who all collaborated to make The Secret Ruths of Island House the masterpiece that it is. "'Ruths' is a beautifully concentrated interplay of acting, mask work, movement, taped interviews and song in a deeply affecting look at elderly women in an assisted-living retirement home.." (Robert Hurrwitt, SF Chronicle)
