The Jesus Rehab with Specters
SPACECRAFT is stoked to have The Jesus Rehab and Specters on Friday the 22nd on August. This show is going to be awesome! We aim to do great things here at SC and we so appreciate seeing your smiling faces! So come join us for this party!
Here's a little bit about The Jesus Rehab... "How can such a big sound come from just two people?" This is what you will be asking yourself upon hearing The Jesus Rehab for the first time. Aside from "delivering a punch harder than Crispin cider" (train wreck'd society), you will find well-crafted albums, giant singable hooks, and a live show that will make you once again believe in the power of rock. The band strives for musical integrity, and at the same time cannot contain the emotions that explode from each note of Jared Cortese's Les Paul or from Dominic Cortese's kit, straight into their fan's loving ears and moving bodies. From the time Cortese strums the first chord - jumping from an amp donned with ferry wings like a messed up trust exercise letting the music take him where it pleases while brother Dominic reeks havoc on the skins of his poor instrument like it wronged him in a past life - everyone in the room becomes one.
And here's a little bit about Specters... Specters began as a solo project of Anacortes songwriter Stephen Steen. While pursuing a degree in Bellingham, WA., Steen carved out a lasting niche in Bellingham's small and dynamic alt rock community by belting out sincere, jagged, bouncy pop rock anthems alongside drummer Sterling Laws, also of Anacortes. The two-piece became well-known for their frank demeanor and brazen energy onstage, and Steen's performance style was immediately likened to those of Andy Partridge (XTC), David Byrne (Talking Heads), and Stephen Malkmus (Pavement, The Jicks). With Laws now pursuing a performance degree in Los Angeles, Specters continues with Alaska-native Noah Magen (The Palisades), known regionally for the nimble and thumpy punk beats that helped bring The Palisades to the forefront of Puget Sound's DIY garage rock scene. After relocating to Seattle in 2013, the two continue to write and perform throughout the Puget Sound. Most recently, the two have teamed up with Mike Ferrario (Seacats, The Violins) on bass, lending further power and dynamism to their distinctly PNW pop anthems.
Specters' debut LP, "American Fantasy Jesus," is due out in 2014.
Coincidence that Specters new album is called "American Fantasy Jesus" and they will be playing with The Jesus Rehab at SPACECRAFT? Yeah, probably.
