Chestnut Hill Walking & Driving Tour
On Sunday, September 14th at 2pm, Lawrence D. McEwen (Philadelphia Architect and Chestnut Hill resident) will lead a walking/driving tour of modern houses in Chestnut Hill dating from mid-20th Century to the present. Commentary will be offered on each architect's thoughts on modernism in general, their design approach to the particular house or housing being studied, and the relationships/influences among and between the projects.
This tour is a sidewalk tour, and will not include access to any of the buildings. The tour will involve both walking within several areas and short drives in between (a map will be distributed at the first stop), and will last about 1.5 to 2 hours. Weather and time permitting, light refreshments will be served in the courtyard of the final house on the tour, although no access to the interior of the home will be available.
The tour is free, but registration is required.
