POSTPONED Celebration of Stanley R. Platman, M.D.
On May 7, 2014, our trusted colleague and friend, the Chair of the Physician Health Committee (PHC) and the Medical Director of the Maryland Physician Health Program (PHP), Dr. Stanley Platman, died following coronary artery bypass surgery. He had served for 25 years as chair of the PHC and as Medical Director for the PHP when that position was created. His sudden, unexpected death came as a great shock to all of us as you can imagine and from which we are all struggling to recover.
The Center for a Healthy Maryland, a 501c3 charitable affiliate of MedChi, which operates the Physician Health Program and the Professional Rehabilitation Program, has established a memorial fund to promote and continue the work to which Dr. Platman devoted a major portion of his professional life, namely the recovery and rehabilitation of impaired physicians.
The Center for a Healthy Maryland and MedChi invite you to join us for a Celebration of the life of Dr. Platman, on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the beautiful Inn at the Black Olive, overlooking Baltimore's Inner Harbor in Fells Point.
The event will feature hors d'oeuvres from the highly-regarded Black Olive Restaurant, a signature cocktail, plus beer and wine, and a silent auction. Guests will be invited to share their remembrances of Dr. Platman and his works. Funds raised will be used to provide grants-in-aid to impaired physicians who are receiving treatment at the Physician Health Program.
