Violinist / fiddler Jamie Laval and guitarist Roger Gold present a 2-hour program of traditional and progressive Celtic instrumental music in a fun-filled evening of stories and toe-tapping melodies.
Jamie Laval is one of the premier Celtic violinists on the international music scene today and is winner of the 2002 U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship. He creates rapt audiences with his intensely passionate, virtuosic performances of traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany and Quebec rendered with hints of classical refinement and ethnic music from around the world.
His CD, Zephyr In The Confetti Factory, won Best World Traditional Song in the 2007 Independent Music Awards Vox Populi, and he collaborated on Dave Matthews album Some Devil, Warner Bros. Pictures Wild America, and WB-TV series Everwood. Laval has appeared on the NBC Today show and given a private performance for Her Majesty The Queen.
Originally a Northwest resident, Laval now resides in North Carolina and tours nationally with over 120 engagements per year. He is heralded as One of North Americas finest practitioners of traditional Scottish music (San Jose Mercury News) and One of the hottest fiddlers out there (Asheville Citizen Times). He serves on the faculty of The Swannanoa Gathering, a celebrated summer institute for traditional arts and music.
