Film: Behind the Scenes Educator Workshop
Why do filmmakers make certain choices in their work? Where do art and practicality meet? Find out durring our annual Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival (SFFSFF) educator inservice! This workshop is held in conjunction with the fifth annual science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival. Participants will gather at EMP|SFM where several filmmakers with entries in the festival will screen and discuss their work with a special emphasis on the creative process. A discussion on using the films in the classroom will also be included along with presentations by local educators with experience using film in the classroom. Then the group will move to the Cinerama Theatre to attend the first session of the fifth annual Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival in special VIP seating. Educators will apply their new understandings to original short films produced by filmmakers from around the world. All participants will receive a DVD that includes festival entries specially chosen for classroom use. Fee: $20.00 (includes Film Festival ticket, video resources DVD, a pass for EMP|SFM and light refreshments); 5 clock hours available for additional fee; clock hours through Seattle University.
