"...you should see Strumply Peter and bring kids if you've got 'em. It's a lot of fun for anyone with an appreciation for a twisted sense of humor." - Twin Cities Daily Planet
"The mixture of performances, puppetry, music, and visuals makes Strumply Peter a signature midwinter joy that will have you wishing you could let go, just for a few moments, and be as wild as a kid again." - City Pages
"Open Eye Figure Theatre unlocks the magic of visual storytelling in Strumply Peter." - Star Tribune
Strumply Peter, a Toy Opera, is the latest original creation from Open Eye Figure Theatre, inspired by the cautionary poems 19th century German physician Heinrich Hoffman composed to entertain his children. Where but on the Open Eye stage can Strumply Peter whisk away children to make them sweeter? This cautionary Toy Opera is a flourish of amusements with puppetry, larger than life characters, and a miniature music hall band.
This signature work by Michael Sommers features Noah Sommers Haas as Strumply Peter, Liz Schachterle as Messy Mary, Tara Loeper as Crybaby and Keith Lester as the Lamenting Mother.
Recommended for ages 5 and up.
