Stan Strickland and Josh Rosen have been creating a sensation around Boston with their spellbinding duo performances. From their regular appearances at the Taylor House, to their triumphant delivery at the 2009 Sweet Chariot Festival South, these two veterans of the Boston jazz scene are an act not to be missed. Josh Rosen and Stan Strickland have been performing as a duo since 2007 and have been received by rousing standing-room-only audiences. The new CD features improvisational collaborations and compositions by Rosen. " Josh Rosen and Stan Strickland send us soaring into another realm. What a splendid collaboration. The graceful beauty that these two summon up is a remarkable thing indeed, not to be missed!!" Dean Stevens
Josh is a co-leader of 3play+, a band with "a breadth of vision and diversity (Performer Magazine). Their debut CD, American Waltz, was released last spring and is getting rave reviews:
"sets new limits for contemporary jazz" - Jazz Times
"Rosen's eloquent piano...elegant feel" - Hartford Courant
"a top pick for 2009!" - JazzReview.com
"absolutely gorgeous " - Lucid Culture
"Rosen's compositions are considerably sophisticated...throughout this mix of alternately melodic and more tonally abstruse jazz , theres a sensibility ranging from sly and funny to warmly, indelibly tuneful." - Lucid Culture
Rosen has performed/recorded with world music performers Mulatu Astake and Mindia Devi Klein, folk artists Bob Franke and Dean Stevens, and jazz greats Mick Goodrick, George Garzone, Greg Hopkins, Bob Moses, Phil Grenadier, John Lockwood among many others. Performer Magazine says: Josh Rosen evokes a refreshingly relaxed openness, yet burns with the best...
