Matthew Polenzani (tenor), Ken Noda (piano): Art Songs from Beethoven to Barber
The Met's leading lyric tenor will join forces with the esteemed collaborative pianist Ken Noda in a unique collection of art songs. Their far-ranging program will include favorite songs of Beethoven and Ravel, rarely performed songs by Liszt, the unprecedented esprit nouveau pieces of Erik Satie, and classic lyrical works by Samuel Barber.
"American tenor Matthew Polenzani has perhaps the finest tenor voice of his generation, and he sang with aristocratic elegance and potency."~ Boston Phoenix
"In reflective phrases he sang with his trademark sweet sound and tenderness. Yet in bursts of bluster and, later, romantic despair, he let his voice ring out with unabashed operatic fervor and big top notes" ~ Anthony Tommasini, The New York Times
