CounterPULSE presents Performing Diaspora Festival

CounterPULSE, a nonprofit center for emerging artists in San Francisco, presents Performing Diaspora, a festival featuring the work of thirteen talented California dance, music, theater, and interdisciplinary artists using traditional forms as a basis for experimentation and innovation. Artists combine Hip Hop with Filipino Tinikling, shadow theater with Greek Rembetiko music, and address themes such as Chicano cultural identity, the politics of poverty and immigration and womens rights.
