Prelude to the 2014-2015 SLO Symphony Season -- Sandy Eastman
This interactive course will prepare you to knowledgeably appreciate offerings of the 2014-2015 San Luis Obispo Symphony season.
We will explore such diverse topics as: how the symphony orchestra is organized, how the conductor and other orchestra members lead the orchestra, how to interpret music, learn specific scores, and apply music theory.
You'll also learn about the mysteries of program listings, how a symphony is organized, and the meaning of selected Italian and German phrases. Bring your questions and we'll include them in our discussion.
Sandy Eastman holds a Master of Music degree from Indiana University. He has been a member of the Long Beach Coterie Sinfonique, Pasadena Community Orchestra, Topanga Symphony, and San Luis Chamber Orchestra as a bassoonist. He taught for 30 years in the Los Angeles area and, after retirement, part time at Cuesta and Hancock Colleges.
