Distill the Darker Side of First Fridays and you get BLACK FRIDAYS -- a celebration of the arts with a macabre twist!
DATE OF EVENT IS FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18th
Black Friday brings an assortment of theatrical, cinematic, performance art and other dark delights, ranging from live music, local films, tarot readers, noir paintings, fire-spinners, belly dancers and more! Founded at the late, lamented Chandler Cinemas this past spring, Black Fridays is back after a short hiatus at the MADCAP Theaters in Tempe--with the goal of bringing back the alternative culture that's been missing form Mill Avenue since the 90s. Don't miss it!
The lobbies of the MADCAP Theaters will showcase a variety of characters and activities for Black Friday. Horror fans can mingle with performers, merchants, exhibitors, photographers and actors and hear live bands perform.
The kickoff to Black Friday features live performers, actors, exhibits and cult-classic movies. KWSS 106.7 FM broadcasts live as tarot card readers, the Cut Throat Freak Show, pinup art, entertain fans a display of roadkill taxidermy and live music. Following the courtyard activities, watch a double feature of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "Repo! The Genetic Opera." along with a premiere of a new horror film from Nocturnal Features in association with Brain Damage Films and DownloadHorror.com.
From now on, the 2nd Friday of every month will be known as BLACK FRIDAY in Tempe at the MADCAP Theaters. From 6pm till midnight, the lobbies and theaters of the Madcap will be a whirlwind of activity, performers, merchants, exhibitors, photographers, live bands, actors, film industry cast/crew and a theatrical opening of a Nocturnal Features film presented by DownloadHorror.com and Brain Damage Films. All of the films are locally distributed.
There will be a cult live stage DOUBLE FEATURE of Rocky Horror Picture Show and REPO! The Genetic Opera, along with the official opening of a new release by Brain Damage films "Devil Girl". Tickets for the premiere are $10.00 - Rocky Horror Picture Show and REPO! The Genetic Opera prices vary. Live Bands start at 8:30 with show time at 10pm on September 18th for "Devil Girl". Devil Girl will also carry over to play again Saturday the 19th at 8pm and 10pm.
The distributing company; Nocturnal Features along with sponsors Brain Damage Films/Maxim Media International is a Tempe based film and media distribution company, long known for its community ties and love of the Horror genre.

Our intention is to create an entire evening of fun for our attending guests every 2nd Friday. We intend for them to want to come to because there is so much to do at our events. Let's Bring First Friday to Tempe, but it's going to be every 2nd Friday. BLACK FRIDAY is Friday September 18th at the MADCAP Theatres in Downtown Tempe and every 2nd Friday of the month thereafter.
