Container Gardening Class
If your green thumb is burning but you have no plantable yard to call your own, come see how simple it can be to design and plant a container garden for your home.
The class will be taught by Leslie Bennett and Patrick Rodysill of Garden Fare (www.mygardenfare.com), a local edible gardening company that works to help people grow their own food in a way that is visually appealing, allowing them to replace traditional ornamental gardens and grass lawns.
Leslie and Patrick will lead us in constructing windowboxes out of recycled wine crates. The class will also cover how to select plants that live happily in the container setting; how to incorporate flowers to enhance the beauty of a vegetable garden and provide a habitat for pollinators and attract beneficial insects; and the larger issues of composting, organic pest controls, irrigation, harvesting and succession planting.
Each attendee will build and go home with their very own garden in a recycled wine crate. Cost of the ticket also includes the starter plants for salad greens, herbs like oregano and thyme, and the confidence to keep your garden thriving.
