2014 Southern Foodways Symposium
THE SYMPOSIUM IS SOLD OUT. TO ADD YOUR NAME TO THE WAIT LIST, EMAIL INFO@SOUTHERNFOODWAYS.ORG.
We're very proud that this year -- when we take on the weighty subjects of race, class, sexuality, gender, ethnicity and more -- this is the Symposium that has drawn the most attention and the quickest sellout.
17th Southern Foodways Symposium October 23-26, 2014 Who is Welcome at the Welcome Table?
The seventeenth Southern Foodways Symposium will be held October 23-26, 2014, on the campus of the University of Mississippi and in and around the town of Oxford. The Symposium begins with registration from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, and closes at noon on Sunday, October 26.
This year, we'll mark the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights act of 1964, which desegregated places of public accommodation, including restaurants. The symposium will ask questions about inclusion and exclusion in the modern South, taking into account old and new imperatives like ethnicity, sexuality, diet, class, gender, and race.

Please note that you must be a current SFA member to register.
