The Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010 created both new opportunities and new requirements for business related health coverage. Since its passage, the ACA provisions relating to employers, as well as employees, continue to evolve resulting in what appear to be counterproductive incentives. Sometimes employees and their families are better off if their employer does not offer health coverage through the workplace. Many small businesses that do provide coverage are leaving money on the table.
