Basel Jurdy, will discuss the 2010 Edition (and changes under the recently released 2014 Edition) of the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities which includes the most comprehensive set of acoustic and vibration design guidelines for healthcare facilities to date.
It has been adopted as the sole reference standard for two LEED environmental quality credits and several states have adopted it as code. The class will also provide basic understanding of the acoustical terminology used in the FGI.
Learning objectives: Gain an understanding of the six acoustical sections of the guideline and how to meet the requirements of these sections Learn what you must know about HIPPA compliance Understand how acoustics can earn up to two points in LEED for Healthcare Gain a basic understanding of the acoustical terminology used in the FGI and what noise issues in healthcare setting that the FGI is addressing Learn what noise (not addressed by the FGI) in Patient Care Environments and how to manage it - Beyond the design of the facility
