Carol S. Pearson, Ph.D. & D.Min: The Transforming Leader
C.G. Jung Society, Seattle presents: Carol S. Pearson, Ph.D. & D.Min.
Becoming a Transforming Leader
Leadership is a state of mind, not just a role. Any of us can be transforming leaders if we act to make a difference in our families, communities, workplaces, and volunteer/civic activities. But to be an effective leader, it is important to know yourself, show emotional and social intelligence in how you treat others, and have a way of understanding the organization, system, or culture you are in. For many of us, feeling out of sync with others or the places we spend our days can be depleting and it does not have to be.
Based on Carol's latest book, The Transforming Leader, the lecture will include a Jungian approach to transformational ways of thinking about leadership, necessary inner work for leaders, and ways of understanding the inner and often unconscious life of groups and organizations. In the process it will show how understanding, and the ability to apply, concepts like transference, counter-transference, projection, archetype, and shadow have become essential leadership capacities. (Should you wish to do so in preparation for this workshop, Carol encourages you to go to www.capt.org and take the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator, which is a well-tested instrument designed to identify archetypes in the life of individuals. There is a modest fee, for which your results are scored, graphed, and emailed back to you.)
Lecture learning objectives: 1. Provide an introduction to cutting-edge leadership thinking 2. Outline inner development strategies for leaders Explore ways to promote healthy leadership teams
Saturday Workshop - Dynamic Interrelationships: Individuals, Organizations and their Leaders
The Saturday workshop will delve deeper into these concepts with a focus on the ways that each one of us is in dynamic interrelationship with the organizations and other environments that are affecting us as we influence them. Carol will provide specific ways of exploring this dynamic through understanding archetypes and other psychological dynamics in and around you that, together, determine the story you are living.
Workshop learning objectives: 1. Provide a context for participants to identify their active archetypes 2. Consider the archetypes active in participant environments 3. Explore the interplay between inner and outer archetypal fields
