MARKET GHOST TOUR - OCTOBER 2009 - HALLOWEEN
We opened up some tours that were sold out. One of our favorite guides is returning to Seattle for the last part of October.

Market Ghost Tours are one hour + walking tours through the Pike Place Market and are based on the stories of hauntings shared in the community. Seattle is not unique in its many stories of ghosts, every city shares stories. Seattle is unique however in that it went through major renovation for 30 years after the Great fire in 1889. Some believe that it is the movement of earth, structures and graves that create Seattles many stories.

During the month of October, PLEASE buy tickets in advance here! We will be charging $20 if you walk up especially to the 9PM tours. If cash is your preference, call Mercedes in advance at 206-322-1218 to secure the online rate. October has been a fantastic month. BRING A CAMERA! We are getting all sorts of interesting pictures on the tours right now.

The Market Ghost Tours are the stories of the people that lived on the land before the Pike Place Market, like Princess Angeline, Chief Seattle's daughter, and those have recently departed but still remain in the Arcades. Within the Market, Seattle's first mortuary stands, the remnants of a graveyard have been found, and an old brothel still has a red glow cast on it's walls.

The tour is moderately adult in content, stick to the 5pm tour with young ones. If you come with children under 10 years of age, there is no charge for them to be on the tour - but please come to a 5pm tour. You do not need to buy tickets here for young ones. We are at the Gum Wall, at the Market Theater before every tour. Bathrooms at the theater. On the back of the tour tickets: coupons for Market businesses!

"Terrific fun. Whether you're a local who wants something entertaining to do at night, or if you have an out-of-town guest visiting, it's a fun and educational tour. I learned a lot about Pike Place and areas of downtown & Pioneer Square. And it's not boring history, it's all very entertaining (brothels, murderers, etc). I would do this tour multiple times. I definitely would like to do it as the sun goes down earlier in the fall, so that it's night time during the tour." - yelp.com review

The Ghost Tour has received 5 star ratings from tour goers, on yelp.com. These are unsolicited reviews, which is very exciting for us as guides! It has been rated #2 in the country by TripAdvisor. The tour has also been featured in newspaper articles, the Seattle Channel and Evening Magazine. October 20th, from 8AM -10AM the tours will be featured on the Channel 13 morning show. Several books also highlight the tours, and a new book just about the Market is now available, called appropriately Market Ghost Stories and written by owner, Mercedes Yaeger - you can pick one up at the tour.
